Specialist Safeguarding Lead
Salary: Grade 9 - £39,774 - £47,511 (£49,464 unconsolidated maximum through performance related progression)
Contract status: Fixed-term for 2 years 
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Location: Civic Office

Plus welcome bonus of £1000 and a retention payment of £1000 in the first year, £2000 in the second year and £3000 a year thereafter and free car parking pass to local car park.

Sutton’s Specialist Safeguarding Leads work directly under the Principal Social Worker for Children and Families to develop and improve practice across the service. They provide advice, guidance and support to senior officers, frontline practitioners and multi-agency partners to ensure that robust systems are in place to respond to issues of intrafamilial and extrafamilial risk and that children and young people are protected from harm. With lead responsibility for child exploitation, missing, radicalisation, and harmful cultural practices, the team also leads on the delivery of the Contextual Safeguarding Scale-Up Project in Sutton.

Specialist Safeguarding Advisors chair complex strategy meetings, deliver internal and multi-agency training and mentor/coach practitioners to drive improvements and implement Sutton’s models of practice. They have a key role in supporting the functions of the Multi Agency Child Exploitation (MACE) Operational Panel and are required to write strategic reports on the performance of the Panel.

About You:
We welcome applications from experienced Social Workers with a minimum of 5 years post qualifying experience. You will need to have current registration with Social Work England and previous supervisory or management experience. Prior experience in offering safeguarding advice, delivering training, chairing strategy meetings and writing reports will be required. The role requires someone who is analytical, well organised and able to offer attention to detail.
