The Safer Sutton Partnership Service (SSPS) is a unique partnership between the London Borough of Sutton (LBS) and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The partnership deals with all aspects of Community Safety Services in Sutton; including Emergency Planning services, Anti-Social Behaviour, Domestic Violence, Preventing Extremism, Hate Crime, Public Space CCTV, parking services and enforcement.

SSPS is a department within the Environment, Housing and Regeneration Directorate of the London Borough of Sutton and is looking to fill the vacancy for the post of a Brexit Programme Manager.

This position is a 12-month fixed term appointment; is offered at Grade 9 and is a full time post, 36 hours per week (LBS operates a flexible working hours’ scheme).

The Government are making preparations for Brexit on 31st October 2019 and the London Borough of Sutton is making provisions to ensure we have the capabilities and resilience to realise opportunities and to support local communities and businesses to assist in mitigating against any potential challenges following our proposed departure from the European Union.

We are looking for a Programme Manager to lead on Brexit on behalf of the Council, working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners, ensuring there is effective communication and information sharing.

You will be an experienced Programme Manager with a successful track record in delivering at pace, with an understanding and awareness of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity and the associated legislation relating to Brexit.

Preferably, you will also have experience of partnership working and must be able to work confidently with councillors and partners. Having strong written and oral communication skills and being able to understand and explain complex issues is essential for this role.

The successful candidate must be relatively familiar and confident with IT software such as Microsoft Office and Google packages which include but are not limited to Word and Excel.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate some desirable skills and abilities which include but are not limited to the following:

1) Be able to demonstrate effective problem solving skills and be confident in making decisions to resolve situations that arise.

2) Ability to be able to challenge and critically evaluate information and data, considering the bigger picture and wider implications to the service and Council.

3) Have the ability to confidently communicate effectively with various audiences.

4) Demonstrate the ability to write and deliver strategic reports and presentations that effectively articulate key messages.

You may be entitled to receive up to 27 days annual leave entitlement depending on local government service.

Location: The job will be based across our offices at the Sutton Police Station, 6, Carshalton Road, Sutton, SM1 4RF and Denmark Road, Carshalton, Surrey. SM5 2JG.

Sutton is a short train journey from Clapham Junction and London Victoria (20-30 minutes), and London Bridge (30-50 minutes) and Carshalton is a short train journey from Clapham Junction and London Victoria (15-25 minutes); both are easily accessible from the neighbouring boroughs of Croydon and Merton.
