The newly formed All Age Learning disability division brings together the following teams : Children With Disability team , a Transitions team  and specialist adult community learning disability health team.

Ofsted  announced in February 2017 that the provision of children’s services in Sutton has been rated as ‘Good’.

London Borough of Sutton works closely with Kingston University and regional partners as part of the Developing Together Social Work Teaching Partnership (SWTP). The partnership offers staff a wide range of pre and post qualifying education opportunities to promote continuous learning and development. This includes staff being encouraged to support the practice education of Social Work students and those in the assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE). Staff are also given the opportunity to attend conferences, workshops and have access to research and practice resources to support their ongoing professional development.  

 

About the Job:

Social Worker – Children With Disabilities

Salary – (Grade 8): £33,291 - £40,728 (£42,684 unconsolidated maximum through performance related progression) plus welcome bonus of £1000 and a retention payment of £1000 in the first year, £2000 in the second year and £3000 a year thereafter (appointed on scale point 30 and above)

Sutton’s Children with Disabilities Team work with families who have a child or children who have disabilities with the provision of short breaks, social work support and where necessary escalate to child protection and court to ensure that children with disabilities in the borough live happy and safe lives and fulfill their potential

 

The team is well supported by children's practitioners and occupational therapists. They are passionate about ensuring children receive the right support at the right time for them and their families. The disabled Children's services is now part of the All Age learning Disability Service.

 

Social Workers support Families through child in need planning, short breaks, early support, looked after children visits, managing and reviewing care packages, child and family assessments, child Protection conferences and PLO work.

 

About You:

We welcome applications from individuals with a recognised Social Work qualification, who are HCPC registered. Knowledge and experience of working with children with disabilities in a social care context would be an advantage with prefereably a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in children's social care.

 

Our culture of strong, accessible and supportive management will provide you with good regular supervision and the opportunity to take part in restorative supervision, practice meetings and team meetings. There are also opportunities to work alongside ASYEs and students.
