Grade 7 Salary £28,356 - £35,025 per annum, with earning potential to unconsolidated maximum £37,098 based on performance.

The Safer Sutton Partnership Service (SSPS) is a unique partnership between the London Borough of Sutton (LBS) and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The partnership provides Community Safety Services in Sutton, including Emergency Planning, Business Continuity and Event Safety services; Anti- Social Behaviour; Hate Crime and Prevent; Public Space CCTV; and Parking services and enforcement.

London is undergoing many changes in the field of Emergency Planning and Resilience at a time when the landscape of local government is changing. This challenge provides an excellent opportunity for you to play a vital role in helping Sutton to continue to be a resilient and safe borough. The SSPS is seeking to recruit an Emergency Planning Assistant to support our team with the work streams and functions required of them under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004). The primary tasks and responsibilities for this position will be: To assist the Council in meeting its responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act, 2004 and maintaining the emergency management cycle.

To support the continuous development of the Council’s Business Continuity Management programme. To undertake administrative Emergency Planning duties, which includes maintaining contact and distribution lists, on-call rotas,
on-call equipment bags, etc. To secretariat Emergency Planning meetings, including the Borough Resilience Forum and internal forums. To assist with the production and delivery of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity training and exercises. To support the delivery of the Event Safety service, which includes scrutinising event plans and risk assessments in liaison with partners, as required. To deputise for the Emergency Planning Officer in their
absence. To respond to Emergencies during office hours and out of office hours when required.

The successful candidate will be working towards a qualification 
in Civil Protection and/or be able to demonstrate relevant experience to show they can become a valuable asset to the team and hit the ground running. The successful candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office packages which include but are not limited to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SSPS work with a lot of partners and agencies and are looking for someone who is an outstanding communicator and has excellent interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will undergo an enhanced CTC security vetting process, completed by the Met Police, for access to the Police Station where this job is based. All staff at London Borough of Sutton must be willing to implement, promote and adhere to the Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy, Core Values, Health and Safety Policies and any other relevant policies and procedures.
