Salary - £34,209 - £41,850 (£43,860 unconsolidated maximum) per annum (grade 8) - Please note all successful applicants will be placed at spinal point 28 - £34,209 per annum

Full–time: 36 hours per week

The London Borough of Sutton is looking to recruit our next cohort of Newly Qualified Social Workers to start their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). We are delighted that we have a high success and retention rate of our previous cohorts, who we are very proud of. In fact - some of our earlier ASYE are now in management positions!

If you have recently completed or are currently in the process of completing your social work qualification (graduating in 2021) and are a motivated and committed individual with the passion and enthusiasm, to embark on the challenge of working within a local authority, then we want to hear from you.

Sutton’s Children’s Services are committed to delivering services that make a real visible difference for children and their families. In Sutton we want to be excellent in everything we do and have plans in place to support us  We were judged as Good by Ofsted in the 2016 inspection - report published on 13/02/17. Our journey to Outstanding continues. Our monitoring visits have been very positive, highlighting our approach to the Restorative model of practice.  

The ASYE programme is delivered within a social work academy framework. The programme is designed to offer our Newly Qualified social workers the maximum opportunity to develop their social work practice and knowledge based on the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Practitioners. 

We offer a protected caseload for the duration of the ASYE programme, a comprehensive programme of learning and development opportunities and good reflective supervision. Our standards are high for our residents so join us on this incredible journey.

We are welcoming applications from Newly Qualified Social Workers who are able to show initiative, leadership and a commitment to working in a busy local authority environment and can develop individual practice and our services to an outstanding standard with the support of  the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Interview - week commencing 24 May 2021 - until 1 June 2021

  • Successful candidates intended start date - 2 August 2021
