Working pattern: Casual hours (as and when needed without any mutuality of obligations)

Salary: £27.95 per hour

Location: Denmark Road, Carshalton, SM5 2JG but required to work at various schools in the borough.

As lead partner in the Sutton Music Hub, Sutton Music Service works with a range of partner organisations to create all kinds of opportunities for children and young people in the London Borough of Sutton. Supported using public funding by the Department for Education and Arts Council England, we are tasked with delivering the aspirations of the National Plan for Music Education.

Sutton Music Service is looking to expand its bank of casual hourly paid instrumental and vocal tutors. We are looking for enthusiastic, professional and committed musicians to join our casual bank to provide tutoring to Sutton schools and children on an ad-hoc basis.

To join our casual musicians’ bank, you will need to:

• Be qualified to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent with a professional qualification in music or musical education.
• Have instrumental or class music teaching experience with an excellent understanding of effective music education pedagogy.
• Be highly level skilled as an instrumentalist/singer with the ability to tutor and coach learners of all ages with confidence.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate positively and effectively with children and young people, parents/carers and colleagues.
• Have an ability to inspire and enthuse children and young people within a positive learning environment.
• Promote musical progression and signpost pupils and parents to enriching musical opportunities.
