Business Continuity Programme Manager
Salary: Grade 9 - £39,774 - £47,511 per annum (£49,464 unconsolidated maximum achievable through performance related progression)
Contract status: Fixed-term for 12 Months
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Location:  Sutton Police Station, 6, Carshalton Road, Sutton, SM1 4RF and Sutton Civic Offices Sutton, Surrey. SM1 1EA.

About the Role
The Safer Sutton Partnership Service (SSPS) is a unique partnership between the London Borough of Sutton (LBS) and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The partnership deals with all aspects of Community Safety Services in Sutton; including Emergency Planning, Anti-Social Behaviour, Domestic Violence, Preventing Extremism, Hate Crime, Public Space CCTV, parking services and enforcement.

The SSPS is a department within the Environment, Housing and Regeneration Directorate of the London Borough of Sutton and is looking to fill the vacancy for the post of Business Continuity Programme Manager.

In accordance with central government directives, the London Borough of Sutton is making provision to ensure it has the capability and resilience to support local communities and businesses in respect of two key areas; the UK’s departure from the EU and the ongoing recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are looking for a manager who has the skills and experience necessary to take a lead role in relation to these issues: the impact of the emerging ‘Brexit’ process working collaboratively with Council officers, stakeholders and partners, and our local communities, ensuring there is effective communication and information sharing, and the unfolding recovery and ongoing preparedness required as a result of the spread and circulation of Covid-19.

About You
You will be an experienced manager ideally with programme and project management experience and/or business continuity and emergency planning experience with a successful track record in delivering at pace.

Preferably, you will also have experience of partnership working and must be able to work confidently with councillors and partners. You must have strong written and oral communication skills and being able to understand and explain complex issues is essential for this role.

The successful candidate must be confident with IT software. Sutton Council uses Google products.

Ideally, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate additional skills and abilities which include but are not limited to the following:

● Effective problem solving skills and confident decision making 
● Ability to challenge and critically evaluate information and data, considering the bigger picture and wider implications to the service and Council. 
● The ability to confidently and effectively communicate with various audiences. 
● The ability to write and deliver strategic reports and presentations that effectively articulate key messages. 

Vetting Process
The successful candidate will have to undergo the specified vetting process including an initial Local Intelligence Check (LIC) and the Counter-Terrorism Checks Level 3 Vetting.

Please note: Appointment and employment is conditional on the post-holder completing and successfully holding Met Police Vetting (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 2) in order to operate from Sutton Police Station. Failure to pass Met Police Vetting will result in the immediate termination of contract.

Sutton is a short train journey from Clapham Junction and London Victoria (20-30 minutes), and London Bridge (30-50 minutes) and Carshalton is a short train journey from Clapham Junction and London Victoria (15-25 minutes); both are easily accessible from the neighbouring boroughs of Croydon and Merton. 

You may be entitled to receive up to 27 days annual leave entitlement depending on local government service.
