A new Apprenticeship opportunity has arisen within Sutton Council.

Are you interested in getting a head start in a career in Finance? This role is for a fixed term contract of either one or two years, depending upon skills and previous experience. The post is aimed at people of all ages, who have the enthusiasm and energy, are motivated to learn quickly and move their career forward.

As a Finance Apprentice, you will be involved in a wide variety of work – everything from processing transactional items into our systems, working closely with other team members to resolve queries and using your own initiative to improve processes.

This apprenticeship role is within the Finance Engagement and Advice Team which provides high quality professional advice and support to budget managers. The team is the customer facing service to the wider Finance Shared Service between Kingston and Sutton Councils. It deals with enquiries about budgets and financial processes and provides support in area such as budget setting, budget monitoring and closing of the accounts. The team acts as critical friend to other council teams and provides financial analysis to support business improvement and change.

Previous work experience is not a prerequisite, but we are looking for people with drive, enthusiasm, the right attitude and some core skills such as communication skills, team player and ICT literacy. You must also have the commitment to complete the training and qualifications associated with an accountancy apprenticeship.
