School Commissioning and Capital Lead
 

Salary: £49,827 - £58,242 per annum (£60,396 unconsolidated maximum achievable through performance related progression)

About the Role
This is a key role to ensure that the London Borough of Sutton strategically manages the supply and demand of schools places in the Borough to meet its statutory responsibilities for children and young people. This includes using data to make informed decisions, commissioning value for money capital activities across both mainstream education and specialist provision (SEND) as well as taking operational management, monitoring and reporting of the council’s capital programme (Basic Need and Capital Maintenance) for schools and education.

The role reports to the Head of Pupil Based Commissioning the post holder will have commissioning oversight of the Basic Needs budget as well as the Council’s Capital Maintenance Budgets (£20m). There are no direct line management responsibilities but the postholder will be expected to work closely with senior officers from across the Local Authority, Headteachers, Governors and Elected Members.

You will have strong project and financial management skills, will be a good communicator and have experience of working in a political environment on sensitive and complex projects. You will have an understanding of schools and the education sector as well strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
